Well friends we’ve done it !. . .together as a group we have reached the summit. As a group of music enthusiasts, listeners, supporters, volunteers and artists alike we have scaled the mountain to bring forward this new and innovative website and fill a rather significant void in the documentation and promotion process. From me to you a since heartfelt thank you. . .we would not be here if it were not for you and your continued years of support. Support has come in many forms throughout the years and I would like to personally take the time to acknowledge those who have given much of their time to bring you what no lays before you as www.moloichphotography.com.
When I look at this website I am reminded of where this all began and where it has journeyed. Where it began, where it flowed is like a river flowing through and for me it began some 35 years ago in my basement with my older brother Mike. My brother had asked for the KISS Destroyer album in 1979 and for me that is my first recollection of the music bug burrowing deep into my soul where it resides to this day. Without those cold winter nights huddled around the Fisher Price turntable listening to the Detroit Rock City I believe the path to this day would look much different. In those days we did not dress like ghouls and goblins for Halloween, the only applicable characters worthy of any dress up were the Cosmic Warrior Ace Frehley and the Cat Peter Criss – Mike and I filled these positioned admirably and with full make up we always hit it out of the park so to speak. From that age on, my brother although tempering his own musical tastes with blacksmith like precision was always pressing a wary eye over his shoulder making sure I was not picking up bad habits of techno, pop, dance, or rap. Together we spanned the gamut of artists from SNFU, Bob Marley, Agent Orange, Suicidal Tendencies, SLAYER, Tracy Chapman, RUSH, the Tragically Hip and the Headstones. As we grew older our musical tastes began to expand in different directions each of us continuing to explore. Without my brother’s guidance in learning the essentials of good honest music and a sincere concert performance I would not be here today with the images I have to share. From day one I have never shared how appreciative I am for this. . .thank you Mike, this has been the best gift a brother could ever give another.
Having support like this in any venture is truly humbling and it’s the difference I believe between quality and passionate response. Feeling people around you supporting and buoying your ideas, echoing your ideals, enriching your mind and pushing you to push yourself is to know and feel true success. I am blessed with a fantastic immediate family who understands my passion for music; an amazing recording industry extended family who provide for me like a true family would. Fans among us are what bridge the gaps between shows and without you; none of this would come to it’s realization. As the website begins to grow and the postings become more frequent and the maintenance lessens, I find myself at a crossroads in my life.
Looking down from the edge, there is a long drop ahead and the question is asked. . .”do you do this full time ?” the answer at this point is no. This is a labor of love until such time as I can find the sweet spot and creatively harness it’s sustainability. The website is the first step to sustainability and self sufficiency; we know the recipe for success is available, the question before us is how much will it take to fill the appetite.
Friends I thank you for reading. . .look for my next blog in the next day or so detailing the person behind the scenes. Webmaster / IT Services Director Shannon Johnson, the woman who brought all of what you see to life.
